However, all arrangements will include a charge for our minimum services. You may request a written explanation for any items that you did not request but are required to purchase.
Minimum Services of Funeral Director This fee is for basic services such as filing death certificates, obtaining permits, notifying Social Security, and arranging services. The charge for a direct cremation includes the removal of the body, refrigeration, crematory fee, cremation tray, and minimum services of funeral director. A cremation tray is what the body is placed in to be cremated and is required by law for cremation. The cost of a direct cremation with a minimum cremation tray is $1125. The cost of a direct cremation with the cremation tray or casket provided by the purchaser is $1075, subject to approval by management, and crematory manufacturers specifications.
The charge for a direct burial includes removal of the body, refrigeration, transport to cemetery and minimum services of funeral director. The cost of a direct burial with a casket provided by the purchaser is $1200. The cost of a direct burial with a fiberboard casket is $1700.
Caskets delivered to SCFS from another retailer may be charged a $100 handling fee.
All urn and casket sales are final.
Warranties. SCFS makes no representations or warranties regarding retail merchandise. The only warranties granted in connection with the goods sold by SCFS are the express written warranties, if any, extended by the manufacturer thereof. No other warranties are extended by SCFS.
Cremation or Burial cannot be performed until a death certificate has been filed and a permit obtained from the Washington State Department of Health. This process normally takes 3-5 business days to complete. It may take an additional 2-3 days before the cremation process is completed.
Death Certificates. Certified copies of death certificates can be purchased through the funeral home for $26 per copy up to one year from date of death. After that time the health department will require the person’s legal next of kin to order certificates directly from them. The certificates would be ordered online at srhd.org or picked up in person at any county health department, and the charge would be $40-$43 per copy. Spokane Cremation & Funeral Service will not place the order for death certificates until the funeral bill has been paid in full.
Viewings. The fee for an unembalmed viewing is $200. An unembalmed viewing is defined as a 30 minute viewing of the deceased for immediate family or up to 10 people. In most cases this can be performed within 24 hours of death. The fee for an embalmed viewing is $300, and $600 with an autopsy repair. All viewings will be subject to the discretion of the funeral director.
Newspaper Notices. To ensure the best possible accuracy, SCFS directs all families to place obituaries directly with the newspaper of their choice. Our local paper can be contacted at 509-459-5119. Unless specifically declined by next of kin, a death notice will be automatically submitted to the Spokesman Review for publication.
Oversize cases. An additional $100 fee may be added for bodies weighing over 300lbs. SCFS may be unable to perform cremations for bodies weighing over 300lbs.
Payment. Unless otherwise stated, payment in full is due at time of arrangement. A 10% fee will be added for all 2nd party billing.
Social Security Administration will be notified of the death. It is recommended that surviving spouses contact the Social Security Administration as well. The Spokane office can be reached at 866-331-5532.
Unclaimed Remains. Unless otherwise arranged, all unclaimed remains will be irretrievably disposed of after 90 days from the date of death.
Memorial Folders. Up to 50 memorial folders are included in our service packages. Additional copies are $1 each. Custom designs are an additional $1 each.
Video Tributes. A video tribute generally consists of 30-50 photos and 2-3 musical selections.
Weekend & Evening. An additional $200 fee will be charged for all services conducted after 4pm on weekdays or anytime on a Saturday or Sunday.
